Hi Sam,
Thanks for the promo code. I know Jeff and Su Howat -- Su worked in our greenhouse for several years. Anyhow, when I started trying to learn about markup and styles, the summer of 2005, Su mentioned being related to someone who was earning a living at it. So I had to goggle you. In late 2005 I don't know if it was you or someone else with the same name in New Zealand who also was doing similar work. That website was a great graphic and not much else. Every once in a while I check into your website, and have seen it change. It's both interesting and inspiring. And seeing where your links go, to Zeldman and others, for something to try to learn. Our website is a "work in progress," not the greatest, but still fun to work at. In addition to changing from Tenforward to Dreamhost, we're looking at adding a shopping cart to the website, and will likely go with PayPal. We don't have an SSL certificate but are contemplating getting one through Thawte. Is there another shopping cart you care to suggest ?

We're gonna switch from Tenforward, and are thinking of Dreamhost. Would appreciate the referral code *cough*.

Good to hear. I noticed some slowness the other day for other sites hosted by Dreamhost. That may of been my connection and not the server though.

I dreamhost, and the only slowdowns were when they had that router issue back a month or two ago. Once in a while the server will glitch, and sql will stop working for ~30 secs, but they are on top of it so fast I can't even put in a support request. They rock and continue to rock. I am hosted on "sepulveda" btw.

The support department was really nice and from what it looks like they are going to move me to a new server that I know has better routing for my location.

Pretty sweet!

Well, I've had some slow downs while trying to get to the admin sections of my sites, but never the actual sites. The server I am on (Laurel) never seems to be down for long if at all (knock on wood).

I don't know that they are overselling each server as much as they are increasing storage.

If they increase the storage then they either have left room for growth, or they upgrade hard drives when they need to. I have yet to have any visitors (well, everyday visitors) report a problem that wasn't my doing.
