It is very evident that the well took a kick, and seems no one on the platform floor could handle the problem or there was equipment failure. Or no safety training.
Unfortunately loss of life .It would appear that the monitor system was either shut off or not paid attention to.Maybe the well was swabbed in who knows, only the driller on the break handle at that time..BP stupidity at trying all this idiot things to control the well are nuts.As of day one they should have started the directional well to kill this thing..Now they say there are three wells flowing which would indicate a platform not a drilling rig on the sub sea head.BP is totally lying to the world.

It's a greecy, never before seen before, example of the human race, run ammuck! Our heritage has been either wrecked, or spoiled. What my people are we going to do just to change our ways?

Hey Don, you're right. Nobody has to care about my opinion. It's just my opinion. However, apparently it matters enough for a troll like you to come and comment. What does that say about you?

C'mon Sammy; Quit your crying about attitudes and expressions, your opinion isn't going to change a thing. It happened, get over it, nobody gives a rats ass about what you think.

I am not the type of person that thinks that the people at large corporations are evil conspirators looking to destroy our planet.

However, his words show an attitude that is unacceptable, our planet's health and natural resources are not something to "shrug" about. They are important and increasingly rare!

The fact that BP said 3-4 weeks before the spill that this type of event is, and I quote "impossible" tells me that great consideration has to be taken when allowing this type of drilling.

You can dismiss this and say, "hey, it's a small part of the world" or "we'll recover" but you're easily removed from the affected area. I know for a fact that there is a large area of the south that will be greatly affected by this spill. The seafood industry in the area has been turned on it's head. Would you like it if the person who leads the company responsible for this spill to have such an attitude? I think not.

C'mon people....lets get real. What the CEO said is factually correct. Anybody who's being blamed for a big mistake tries to downplay the seriousness of the mistake. Does anybody really believe that BP doesn't care about this oil spill?? Even if the people of BP are the ogres that so many people seem to be portraying them as, do you think they enjoy all the expense this is costing them, not to mention the trillions they'll spend on lawsuits? They don't like making an environmental mess any more than anyone else. Sometimes, we have to accept that this is not a perfect world. The ocean will recover eventually.

He might as well have said:

"only 11 people were killed, that's a relatively small number compared to how many people live in the world today."

That type of mentality is dense. I don't understand how "the ocean is big" is suppose to make the spill seem any less serious.

Yes, this is obviously a joke. However, it is an excellent way of pointing out the ridiculousness of Tony Hayward's attitude.
