A Plan To Crush It!

I recently completed the purchase of my latest side-project: www.icrush.it. It’s completely for fun at this point, however I do have some fairly cool plans for the site to present real value to the visitors.
First, some history…
I first started using the #crushit tag on Twitter to emphasis certain tweets where I was really putting forth effort to complete a task. The term has it’s originals with Gary Vaynerchuck and his book: Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion — A book I highly recommend by-the-way.
I am always running in high-gear these days, dealing with two businesses, driving myself to succeed and trying to constantly improve myself. The #crushit tag has been fairly appropriate on my Twitter account and is pretty much my answer when people ask why I don’t slow down and relax.
More history…
Recently I’ve made connections with many young CEO’s and entrepreneurs in the Pacific NW who are always working hard and producing amazing content. I told Derek Johnson (CEO of @Tatango) that I was planning a website that would highlight these people, promote their twitter feeds, and blogs.
I bought upstartnw.com to start this project but the name was too regionalized, and I’ve purchased icrush.it with this original intent in mind.
The Plan – As of Now
- A WP / MU system will be setup to pull data from a select few RSS feeds, Twitter Accounts, and parsed hash tags.
- The data will be displayed on a real-time feed similar to what Twistori currently does.
- In addition to the live feed, you will able to click into a profile of a specific user to see just their RSS, Twitter, and hash tag updates.
- You will be able to jump to the users blog, facebook, twitter, or other social network.
- Users will be setup as username.icrush.it – Giving it a easy to remember / fun name that people will want to give out.
- In addition to this, users will have access to a URL shortener that allows them to send people to their latest blog posts and share their profile around the net.
Why?
Again, this project is for mostly just for fun. However, as many know, my side-projects are given an immense amount of attention and follow through from me when I think they are worthwhile.
I feel that this has some useful aspects to it, and it gives me and my team some time to play around with the Twitter API, and chance to build a small, useful social network.
Can Anyone Have An Account?
No. At this time, we have no intentions of becoming some huge project. We want to keep the value of the stream useful and not clutter it up with random crap (other than our own).
However, if you are interested in this project, and would like to get involved, have an account, or want more info, comment below, or send me an email: sam@icrush.it and we’ll figure something out.
