Election Jokes

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I am convinced that the U.S. needs a change in leadership. That is why this year I vowed to pay close attention to the political process (I actually have in the last 8 years, I just need to pay super-secret-close-attention this year) and make sure that someone gets elected who I truly think will do a good job.

So far, It saddens me to announce that I haven’t been impressed with anyone and I’m feeling the ever present jaded feeling when I think of our political candidates. On the brighter side of things our local candidates seem like top notch people… seems like the good politicians are resigned to smaller posts of office. How sad…

That said, I was reading my Newsvine and came across a hilarious article written by James Lileks of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He has a hilarious writeup on “The first 100 days if Democrats win“, and again, in the spirit of finding humor in partisan politics I thought I’d post the article.

All together now, deep breath and laugh.

Concert of your Life

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Ok, what concert would you sell a family member into eternal slavery to see? I personally would give both my kidneys to have seen Queen and David Bowie performing “Under Pressure” live. I only have a video of it but if you think about the times they were in (think Live Aid) and the incredible talent that is present on that stage… its amazing.

I personally think that Freddy Mercury and David Bowie were (are) some of the best liver performers for the Rock & Roll genre. A lot of bands get lost with the “message” or start to think they are more important than they really are (see: System of A Down). I love bands that just give an awesome performance to their fans who pay a large amount of money to see them in concert.
How about you? What major organs or family members are you willing to part with to see something amazing live.

Host Rage

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

I can’t stand how slowly Dreamhost’s servers respond. It takes much too long for my site to load for me. I love their servers, plans, pricing and customer service, but is it just me or does it seem like Dreamhost might be overselling each server? What are your thoughts, fellow Dreamhosticans? I’m going to go rage into a hot chocolate for awhile…

Update: Dreamhost rocks, and have begun to set me up with a server that meets my needs. I continue to love them. If you want some hosting let me know and I’ll give you a referral code that will save you some money *cough*.
